Even after the rapid advances that have been made in the field of medicine and surgery, cancer is still the leading cause of human mortality. Detection of precancerous or cancerous lesion when small is one of the most important factors to improve the five year survival rates of oral cancer. Oral erythroplakia is arare epithelial lesion that has the highest risk of showing severe dysplasia and is more predictive of neoplasia than any other lesion of the oral cavity. In Indian population tobacco chewing and alcohol drinking are the strong risk factors for oral erythroplakia. Histological examination of the tissue from abiopsy is the only definitive method of diagnosing oral erythroplakia. This is report of acase of female patient who has ahistory of tobacco chewing and was diagnosed as oral erythroplakia.
