Ethics in general dental practice in India, when basics fail – Case reports

This article focuses on the need to improve the standards and quality of dental services in India. There are discussed two case reports where due to negligence, malpractice and unethical treatment approach by dental practitioner had led the patients to suffer from the worst consequencies. Emphasis are required to update the practitioners on basic techniques like sterilisation, disinfection, diagnosis as well as regarding the latest technologies which simplifies the treatment protocol. Programs on medical and primarily dental ethics through continuing medical and dental education programs (CMEs and CDEs) are required to enlighten the skills of practitioner. The medical and primarily dental ethics are fading away from our noble profession so this article aims at highlighting the importance of making a definitive diagnosis and executing right treatment with adequate follow up.
