Dentin hypersensitivity may be considered an enigma. The pain is of a sharp nature and patients approach the dentist for permanent relief. The goal of the treatment strategy should provide relief of pain experienced by the patient or at least to reduce the level of discomfort to enable the patient‘s quality of life to be maintained. This review discusses the diagnostic and treatment approaches to reduce the pain experienced by the patient suffering from dentin hypersensitivity.
