Abstract

A biofilm consists of an accumulation of bacteria and their extracellular products on a surface and the plaques that form on tooth surfaces Biofilms (dental plaques), are notoriously resistant to a wide range of antimicrobial agents. Biofilms are usually highly structured with channels traversing the depth of the biofilm, creating primitive circulatory systems.
