Abstract

Powdered latex gloves have been identified as a major source of occupational allergenic exposure because they contain water-soluble proteins responsible for antigenic sensitization. These reactions may manifest with swelling, redness, itching, blistering and cracking. In the following case report a 57-year-old female who patient reported for the fabrication of new complete dentures, developed allergic contact dermatitis 24 hours after making primary impressions using latex gloves. The patient was treated with a topical steroid and antihistamines, resulting in complete cure.
