Rhabdomyolysis is one of the dreaded complications following prolonged surgery in a morbidly obese patient commonly caused by muscle ischemia/reperfusion or crush injuries and if not recognized well in time leads to increased morbidity and mortality. We report a case of morbidly obese patient who developed rhadomyolysis with acute renal failure after surgery for lumbar canal decompression and spinal fusion.
