Abstract

To determine the level of relaxation and fatigue among clients undergoing haemodialysis before and after introduction of reflexology.

To determine the level of relaxation and fatigue among clients undergoing haemodialysis before and after introduction of two minute relaxation technique.

To compare the effectiveness of reflexology and two minute relaxation technique on fatigue reduction and relaxation.

To determine the association between selected demographic variables and fatigue reduction and relaxation

An evaluative research approach using pre-intervention test (O1) and post intervention Test (O1) was adopted for this study in order to accomplish the objectives.

The research design selected for this study was pre-experimental, that is, two group pre-test post-test design

In this study the data collection instruments used are:

Baseline Performa of ESRD patients undergoing haemodialysis.

Self-expressed Relaxation rating scale.

Modified Piper Fatigue scale.

The findings showed that there was a significant difference in the pre-test and post-test score of fatigue and relaxation in the reflexology and two minute relaxation technique group. This proved the effectiveness of reflexology and two minute relaxation technique in reduction of fatigue and enhancement of relaxation in both the groups.

Reflexology and two minute relaxation technique are proved to be very effective alternative therapy which can be used for the reduction of fatigue and enhancement of relaxation, and are very simple, cost effective non pharmacological measures which can be used by the patients themselves without the fear of side effects.
