Health Practices on Management of Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract

Diabetes is a progressive disease that can lead to debilitating complications and premature death if not well controlled. Health-related behavior is important in maintaining health and it is determined by individual beliefs and practices.

The objectives of the study were to determine the practices among diabetics on management of diabetes mellitus.

A descriptive cross sectional survey conducted among 125 diabetic adults, data collected by using structured questionnaire.

The study finding reveals that out of 125 diabetic adults, 46.4% were rarely using gooseberry, 61.6% were practicing sugarless tea to control their blood sugar level. Most of the diabetic adults (66.4%) were practicing ragi and 54.4% of them were using chapatti in their diet. Only 15.2% and 13.6% of diabetic adults were practicing yoga and meditation respectively in their daily activities.
