A Study to Evaluate the effectiveness of Child to Child Programme on Road Safety Measures among Primary School Children at Selected School, Bangalore

To determine the effectiveness of child to child programme on road safety measures among primary school children.

The study involved pre-experimental- One group pretest and post-test design. Samples were 60, 4th standard children selected by purposive sampling technique. After the pretest 10 children were selected as child teachers and taught on road safety measures by the investigator and next day these trained children taught the remaining 50 children of same class regarding road safety measures. To find out the effectiveness of child to child programme post test was conducted after 8 days for 60 samples by using the same structured interview schedule which was used for the pretest.

Regarding effectiveness of child to child programme, the overall mean percentage knowledge score in the pre-test was 45% and 79.6% in the post-test. The enhancement in the mean percentage knowledge score was found to be significant.

The overall findings of the study clearly showed that the child to child programme was significantly effective in improving the knowledge scores of primary school children regarding road safety measures.
