Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive despite regular unprotected sexual intercourse over a specific period of time, usually either 1 or 2 years 8. Infertility is a medical & social problem found everywhere on the globe 10. In India where Child bearing is highly valued, the childless can have devastating consequences. Infertility is more traumatic for women as it is considered essence of female role and identity. Thus infertility can create feeling of physical & social inferiority that can overshadow all other personal & social values10. Among couple, there are many myths prevails regarding infertility. To clarify these myths and to relieve their stress, counselling is essential. Counselling can help individuals and couples to make adjustments to their lifestyles, help them maintain the Strength in their relationships and equip them to make the choices that are right for them.
