Real Life Experience of Nursing Students at the Clinical Practice

Clinical practice is a basic requirement for nursing education in a clinical setting. The clinical setting is fundamental to the nursing students learning because it offers opportunities for them to work with ‘real’ clients with ‘real’ problems¹. A qualitative descriptive research based on the phenomenological approach was chosen as the method to reveal the meaning of ‘doing clinical’, through the analysis of nursing students’ descriptions of their everyday lived experience of undertaking the clinical program. The samples consisted of 160 fourth grade baccalaureate nursing students who are studying in nursing school, Mongolian National University of Medical Science. In-depth interviews were conducted with nursing student nurses. Data from the interviews were collected, recorded and analyzed using Coliazzi's (1978). The finding revealed that the providing hospital trainings to nursing students, the standard of preparation for the placement was qualified highly. There was no correlation between hospital practice, seminar and class room training. Learning process will enhance dependent upon the collaborative support and facilitation in the clinical learning environment.
