Abstract

Febrile fits are the commonest cause of seizures in children less than 5 years of age. There are two categories of febrile seizures-simple and complex. The present study was conducted in Tirunelveli to know the relationship of family history of convulsions to the type of febrile convulsions. 30% of children showed family history of febrile convulsions. Simple febrile seizures are most common in children with positive family history of convulsions.
