Mental health of each child is important. Many children have mental health problems and these problems are real and painful and can result in serious effects. Adolescents suffer from psychological problems during their development which may lead to health problems in their future life.
Assess the Pre University students’ psychological wellbeing and evaluate the effectiveness of the mental health promotion programme on their psychological wellbeing.
Research design adopted for the study was Quasi experimental pre test-post-test control group design. Data were collected using demographic questionnaire and psychological wellbeing scale. SPSS software version 16 was used for data analysis.
Psychological wellbeing of Pre University students was assessed by a rating scale developed by the Carol Ryff in 1984, containing six subscales. There are no specific scores or cut off points for determining high or low wellbeing. Results shown that, there was significant improvement in the post test score of the experimental group. The experimental group, the mean pretest was 236, whereas the posttest mean was 408. (t=201, p=0.001 at 0.05 level of significance)
