In this paper an attempt has been made to delineate features required in a consumer digital camera for orthodontic use along with a critical appraisal of the consumer systems currently available. After a detailed study recommendations are made as to the system best suited to current orthodontic practice. In addition correct technique including positioning of the subject and operator as well as the camera is also described in detail.
