Bacterial challenges presented by dental plaque is the most important local factor causing periodontal disease and also its accumulation following periodontal surgery has been directly associated with delayed and altered surgical wound healing. Plaque control by 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate is the key stone in the practice of periodontics in the prevention of periodontal diseases, during non surgical treatment and also in surgical treatment in relation to field of surgical area, as plaque control by mechanical means are not recommended in the surgical site. The purpose of the study was to clinically compare the efficiency of chlorhexidine gluconate 0.2% mouth washing in plaque control in relation to surgical site with or without periodontal pack.
