Abstract

The term longitudinal tooth fracture is appropriate because it implies a vertical direction and a time component, i.e. linear fractures that tend to grow and change over time. Diagnosis of vertical root fractures in endodontically treated teeth presents many problems. The fracture is usually not visible radiographically, especially early in its development, it can be further obscured by other dental and anatomic structures or the obturated canal itself
