Abstract

The scope of orthodontics has widened to include adults also with children and adolescents thereby abolishing the upper age limit. A great number of young adults are seeking orthodontic treatment primarily for esthetic reasons. The older adults with poor dental conditions requiring perio-restorative treatment undergo adjunctive orthodontic treatment to attain a long-term result. Thus, in the compromised adult malocclusion, the team of orthodontist, the oral & maxillofacial surgeon, periodontist and the restorative dentist must interact together to make a prudent treatment decisions for the patient.
