Endodontic retreatment in a bridge retainer with open Apex:- A case report.

Apexification can be defined as a ‘method to induce a calcified barrier in a root with an open apex or the continued apical development of teeth with incomplete roots and a necrotic pulp’. Calcium hydroxide has been the first choice material for apexification. But because of its long treatment time, MTA apical plug is an alternative treatment for open apices. Here we report the successful treatment of previously treated open apex central incisor which was a bridge retainer and obturating material was extruded beyond the apex. Apical stop was created with MTA by apexification and the root canal was obturated with lateral compaction of gutta percha.
