Abstract

To study serum prolactin and Cortisol among primiparous and multiparous women during labour and after delivery.

Female patient of different parity attending Gauhati Medical College & Hospital were included in the study group. Sample were taken within 6 hrs of onset of labour and immediate postpartum (within 15minutes after delivery) and estimated by radio immune assay method.

Serum cortisol in multi vs. primi statistically vary significantly (p<0.05) but the serum prolactin levels in multi vs. primi did not show statistical variation (p>0.05).
