To find relationship between glycemic control and lipid profile Type 2 DM.
This study includes 48 Type 2 DM subjects. For each patient, data regarding age, gender, duration of diabetes, and use of medications were recorded. A detailed physical examination was performed, glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) values serum total cholesterol, serum triglycerides and comorbid conditions were noted. Quality and quantity of sleep was evaluated by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire.
Plasma triglycerides and total cholesterol were significantly increased in diabetic patients compared with control group. HbA1c showed positive correlations with triglycerides and total Cholesterol (r = 0.66, P = 0.01 and r = 0.32, respectively).
It is concluded from the results of this study that HbA1c can be used as a predictor of dyslipidemia in patients with type II diabetes.
