To assess emotional intelligence in first year medical graduates
Emotional intelligence depicts how to manage behaviour, navigate social complexities, and make personal decisions that achieve positive results. Emotional intelligence is made up of four core skills that pair up under two primary competencies: personal competence and social competence.
After obtaining informed consent, EI score of 135 medical graduates were assessed using Schutte et al questionarre.
In our study, mean EI score for male is 93 whereas for female it was 135. On comparing the EI scores for males and female using unpaired T test, P value was found to be highly significant (P = 0.00888**). This study concludes that females have more emotional intelligence than males.
