Abstract

A light weight inexpensive portable solar cooker is fabricated and its performance is analysed. Two different types of surface coatings are made for reflection. Its comparative performance is analysed with locally available aluminized foil as one reflector and nickel coating as another reflector. Its performance is analysed with the help of an aluminium vessel, which acts as an absorber. The absorber is painted with dull finished black board paint. In each case, the heat developed inside the absorber is studied. Various food items are cooked in this cooker and the time consumption in each case is observed.
