Paper presents the results of the measurement of indoor 222Rn and its progeny levels carried out in dwellings of Bangalore city using Solid State Nuclear Track Detector (SSNTD) based dosimeters. About 120 dosimeters were installed in randomly selected locations based on the external gamma radiation levels recorded using a scintillation survey meter in and around Bangalore city. Usual seasonal trend of winter maximum and the summer minimum were observed in all the monitored dwellings. The monthly maximum levels of 222Rn and its progeny were observed during December and the minimum in the month of July. Estimated annual average concentrations of 222Rn and its progeny during winter, summer, rainy and autumn seasons were found to be 57.1,25.2,41.5 and 42.6 Bq m-3 and 1.2, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.5 mWL respectively. Whereas the monthly variations were ranged between 7.3 and 33.5 Bq m3 0.02 and 1.7 mWL respectively. Paper presents the results along with the methods of measurements.
