Abstract

The purpose of the study was to assess the predictive variables i. e. anthropometric measurements, physical variables and physiological variables to fast drag flick infield hockey. Thirty (30) National level male drag flickers were selected as subjects for the purpose of this study. The standing height, weight, leg length, arm length, upper arm length, fore arm length, chest girth, shoulder width, upper arm girth and fore arm girth were the anthropometric measurements; arm & shoulder strength, back strength, leg strength, grip strength and back flexibility were the selected physical variables and positive breath holding capacity, anaerobic capacity, cardiovascular endurance and percentage of fat were the selected physiological variables. The Speed ofthe hockey ball during dragflick skill was measured by a Speed Radar Gun. To study the assessment of predictive variable i.e. anthropometric, physical and physiological variables offast dragflick, multiple regression was applied by using Step-Wise Method. Two Models and regression equation for prediction ofdrag flick was also developed. Among both the models, the second model in which leg length and arm & shoulder strength observed was 63.6% which was the highest in comparison to the first model. Hence, second model is most suitable and adaptable for drag flick skill in field hockey.
