The purpose of the study was to see that eight weeks ofplyometric training can improve the verticaljump performance and lungs junction off emale collegiate weight lifters_ The study was conducted on a group of female collegiate weightlifters (n= 60) twice a weekfor an eight week period. Subjects were divided into two groups, a plyometric training group and a control group. The plyometric training group performed an eight week plyometric training program and the control group did not perform any plyometric exercises. All players were tested for vertical jump height (VJH), forced vital capacity (FVC) and forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) using the sergeant jump test and pulmonary junction test respectively prior to start of the training program. The assessments were done at the end of every two weeks till 8 weeks. The results of the study showed significant change in vertical jump height, forced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume in one second from second week onwards and the highest effects were observedat the end of 8 weeks. The results were significantly higher compared to the control group (P < 0.05). This study concludes that eight week plyometric training can be an effective training technique to improve vertical jump performance and pulmonary junctions in collegiate female weight lifters.
