Abstract

The present study focuses on the prediction of likelihood of a club winning or losing in The Hero Indian Super League by using the logistic regression model. Datafrom all matches played between 2014–2016 seasons of ISL were taken and only matches with outcome were considered for this study. Eight independent variables and one dependent binary logistic variable are used throughout to illustrate the implementation of this successful use of mathematical and statistical principles to the solution of a practical problem of winning in Indian super league matches.
