Abstract

Yoga is the most important factor for all human beings. It is essential for not only to improving the physical and physiological variables but also to live our life comfortably. The study was to find out the Suryanamaskar on selected physiological variables of school Athletes. To achieve these purpose thirty male students from Government Higher Secondary School, Mambakkam studying in various classes were randomly selected as subjects. They were divided into two equal groups and each group consisted of 15 subjects. Group-I underwent Suryanamaskar practice for six days per week for six weeks and group-II acted as control who did not participate any special training apart from the regular curricular activities. The subjects were tested on selected criterion variables such as resting pulse rate, breath holding time and respiratory rate at prior to and immediately after the training period. The selected criterion variables such as resting pulse rate was measured by pulse rate per minute at resting condition, breath holding time was measured by holding the breath for maximum duration, respiratory rate was measured by expirograph. The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to find out the significant difference if any, between groups on each selected criterion Variables separately. In all the cases,.05 level of confidence was fixed to test the significance, which was considered as an appropriate.
