Effect of weight training, plyometric training and complex training on anaerobic capacity of college men

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to find out the effect of weight training, plyometric training and complex training on anaerobic capacity of college men. Forty five men students were selected as subject at random from H. H. The Rajah's College, Pudukkottai district and their age group range between 18 to 22 years. The study was formulated as pre and post test random group design, in which forty five men students were divided into three equal groups. The experimental group- I (n=15, WT) underwent weight training, experimental group- II (n=15, PT) underwent plyometric training and experimental group III (n=15, CT) underwent complex training group. In this study, three training programmes were adopted as independent variable, i.e., weight training, plyometric training and complex training. The dependent variable was selected as two variables as maximum power and average power from anaerobic capacity. Maximum power and average power measured by RAST (Running - Based Anaerobic Sprint Test), performance was recorded in seconds. The selected three treatment groups were performed alternative three days in a week for the period of eight weeks, as per the stipulated training program. The anaerobic capacity was tested before and after the training period. The collected pre and post data was critically analyzed with apt statistical tool analysis of co-variance (ANCOVA), for observed the significant adjusted post-test mean difference of three groups. The Scheffe's post hoc test was used to find out pair-wise comparisons between groups. To test the hypothesis 0.05 level of significant was fixed in this study. The results proved that the selected trainings produced significant improvement and significant difference exist due to the effect of weight training, plyometric training and complex training on anaerobic capacity of college men, when compared with the among the training groups.
