Physical fitness of young sports persons of Warangal

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to develop profile in respect of selected motor fitness components of young sports persons of Warangal. The age of the subject ranged from 10 to 13 years. The motor fitness components selected were 50m dash (speed), 800m run (endurance), standing broad jump (legs explosive strength), 6x10m shuttle run (agility) and sanding bobbing (flexibility). With the help of norms available at the Institute, scores were assigned to each subject according to their performance. Means for the scores in each of the test items were computed. Using the means, profiles players were prepared. A close look at the profiles reveals that the status of the subjects in respect of each of the variables is good. However, there is a need to add more training means to enhance strength and endurance.
