Effects of kids plyometric training com-bined with stretching exercise on agility of school boys

Abstract

The purpose of study was to find out the effects of kids plyometric training on agility of school boys. To achieve the purpose of the study, thirty school boys from Alagappa Fitness Foundation, Karaikudi, Tamilnadu were selected as subject at random and their age group range between 8 to 10 years. The study was formulated as pre and posttest random group design, in which thirty subject were divided into three equal groups. The experimental group-1 (n=10, KPT) underwent kids plyometric Training. The experimental group-2 (n=10, KPT-SE) underwent kids plyometric training combined with stretching exercises and group 3 served as control group (n=10, CG) did not undergo any specific training. In this study, two training pro-gramme were adopted as independent variable, i.e., kids plyometric training, kids plyometric training combined with stretching exercises. The agility was selected as dependent variables. It was tested by T Test, scores recorded in seconds. The selected two treatment groups namely kid's plyometric training and kid's plyometric training com-bined with stretching exercises were performed five days in a week for the period of six weeks, as per the stipulated training program. The agility was tested before and after the training period. The col-lected pre and post data was critically analyzed with apt statistical tool of analysis of co-variance, for observed the significant adjusted post-test mean difference of three group with respect to each parameters. The Scheffe's Post Hoc test was used to find out pair-wise compari-sons between groups with respect to each parameter. To test the hy-pothesis 0.05 level of significant was fixed in this study. The agility was better in the kids plyometric training combined with stretching exercise group than the kid's plyometric training.
