This review paper explores developing and implementing a novel sports footwear sizing system explicitly tailored for Indian athletes. Recognizing the unique anatomical and biomechanical characteristics of the Indian population, this study investigates the shortcomings of existing global sizing standards, inadequately accommodating India’s diverse foot shapes and sizes. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, including anthropometric studies, biomechanical analyses, and footwear design methodologies, this paper elucidates the need for a culturally sensitive sizing approach to enhance athletic performance, comfort, and injury prevention among Indian athletes. Furthermore, it delves into the technological advancements and data-driven methodologies utilised in creating the proposed sizing system, emphasising the integration of 3D scanning, machine learning algorithms, and material engineering techniques. The findings of this study underscore the significance of a localised approach to sports footwear sizing, offering insights for manufacturers, designers, and practitioners in optimising athletic footwear solutions for diverse populations. Along with understanding size conversion methods, this paper aims to underscore the significance of personalised sports footwear for enhancing athletic performance and comfort among Indian athletes.
