Abstract

This study explores the current sports infrastructure, participation levels, and physical education provisions in government rural schools in Narayanpet district, Telangana. Sports play a crucial role in the overall development of students, promoting physical fitness, team-work, and leadership qualities. Despite this, rural areas often face challenges related to insufficient infrastructure, lack of trained physical education teachers, and limited student participation. The objective of this research was to assess these factors and offer insights into improving the sports ecosystem in government schools in the district. Through a survey methodology, including structured questionnaires distributed among physical education teachers and school staff, the study examines the availability of sports facilities, teacher strength, budget allocation, student engagement, and past achievements in sports. The results indicate a lack of adequate sports infrastructure, insufficient teaching staff, and limited sports achievements. The study concludes with recommendations to improve the situation, including better resource allocation, training for teachers, and increasing student participation.
