Comparative Analysis of Anthropometric Trends Across Chronic Disease Groups

Abstract

Anthropometric measures, including body composition assessments such as adiposity, lean body mass, and body mass index scores, serve as vital indicators of overall health and disease progression. Chronic health conditions, encompassing COVID-19, cardiovascular disorders, and chronic respiratory ailments, substantially influence these physiological parameters, posing distinct challenges for effective disease management. This cross-sectional analysis examined data from 300 participants, comprising 100 individuals from each disease category, to identify and compare anthropometric trends, informing the development of targeted interventions.

The findings reveal distinct patterns: 2019-nCov patients exhibited the highest BMI and fat percentages, reflecting obesity risks exacerbated by inactivity during recovery. CVD patients showed moderate BMI and fat levels, with a noticeable decline in muscle mass, suggesting an increased need for resistance training. CRD patients, on the other hand, displayed the lowest muscle mass and fat percentages, highlighting vulnerabilities to frailty and malnutrition. Statistical analyses, including ANOVA and correlation studies, confirmed significant differences across groups (p < 0.05).

These results underscore the necessity for somatotype-specific interventions. For 2019-nCov patients, calorie-controlled diets and aerobic exercises are recommended, while high-protein diets and resistance training are essential for CRD and CVD patients to address muscle loss. Policy implications include integrating nutritional counseling and disease-specific fitness programs into public health strategies.

By linking anthropometric trends to chronic disease management, this study emphasizes the importance of personalized health interventions to improve patient outcomes and promote long-term wellness.
