Mega sporting events such as the Commonwealth Games (CWG) have emerged as catalysts for economic growth, urban development, and international visibility. The 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi demonstrated both the potential and challenges of hosting such events, influencing infrastructure, tourism, employment generation, and the services sector. With the prospect of hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games, India stands at a crucial juncture to leverage lessons from the past while maximizing socio-economic benefits. This paper examines the developmental dimensions of various economies through the organization of the Commonwealth Games, assesses the economic consequences of the 2010 Games, and projects the potential impact of hosting the 2030 Games on the Indian economy.
