The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship of Emotional Intelligence and Sports Achievement Motivation with Playing Ability of Footballers. For this study 30 (thirty) male Football Players of 18 (eighteen) to 22 (twenty two) years by age were selected as subjects.
Emotional Intelligence was assessed by using standardized questionnaire developed by Rajitha Menon A. and Jayashree Acharya. Sports Achievement Motivation was assessed by administering standardized questionnaire developed by Dr. M. L. Kamlesh. Playing ability was assessed by adopting three judges rating method.
The findings indicated that there were positive significant relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Playing Ability (r=0.424); and Sports Achievement Motivation and Playing Ability (r= 0.430) of Footballers.
Therefore, it was concluded that Emotional Intelligence and Sports Achievement Motivation are significantly co-related with Footballers’ Playing Ability.
