Effects of Different Intensity of Bench Step Aerobic Dance on Tidal Volume of Untrained College Women

Abstract

The aim of the study was to find out the effects of different intensity of bench step aerobic dance on tidal volume of untrained college women. To achieve the purpose of the study, forty five untrained college women students from madras christian college, chennai, tamilnadu were selected as subjects at random. The age of the students was ranged from 18 to 21 years. The selected subjects were divided in to three groups, group-one those who underwent low intensity bench step aerobic dance (LI-BSAD), group-two those who underwent medium intensity bench step aerobic dance (MI-BSAD), group-three was served as control group (CG). The expiratory reserve volume was selected as criterion variable and it was measured through Spirometer. All the subjects of three groups were tested on tidal volume prior and after the study period of nine weeks. Ancova was used to find out significant adjusted post test mean difference of three groups. The result of the study revealed that medium intensity bench step aerobic dance significantly differ and found high than low intensity bench step aerobic dance and control group. Similarly low intensity group also showed significant changes consequent to nine weeks of training programme. It is concluded that medium intensity bench step aerobic dancing significantly improves the tidal volume of untrained college women.
