Effects of Aerobic Training and Circuit Training on Selected Bio Motor Abilities (Muscular Strength) Among School Boys

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of aerobic training and circuit training on selected bio motor abilities among school boys. For this study four hundred and fifty boys’ students from Various Senior Secondary Schools of Meerut District, Uttar Pradesh. The age groups of the subjects will be 15 to 17 years. The selected subjects (N=450) were randomly divided into three equal groups consisting of One Hundred Fifty (n=150) in each. Experimental group I named as Circuit Training (CTG) Group, Experimental group II-Aerobic Training Group (ATG) and Group III acted as Control Group (CG). The muscular strength was chosen as a variable and was measured through Arnold 1RM bench press test. The maximum amount of weight lifted in one attempt was recorded in kilograms. All the three groups were tested on selected bio-motor fitness component namely muscular strength and the readings were recorded in their respective units as pre-test scores. After pre-test, the experimental group I was treated with circuit training and Group II was treated with Aerobic training for one and half hours duration per day for six days a week in the morning session. The pre and post-test random group design was used. The obtained results statistically analysed through the analysis of co variance. The Scheffe's post hoc test was used to find out pair-wise comparisons between groups with respect to expiratory reserve volume. To test the hypothesis 0.05 level of confidence was fixed. The results revealed that the selected both training intervention produced significantly different improvements on muscular strength of school boys.
