The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of aerobic dance and yoga practices on biochemical variables among middle aged women teachers. Thirty middle aged women working at St. Joseph'SG.H.S Chengal were randomly selected as subjects and assigned to three equal groups of two experimental groups and one control group. Experimental group one underwent aerobic training; experimental group two underwent yoga practice for a period of twelve weeks. Control group did not participate in any specific training. Total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high density lipoprotein (HDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) were selected as dependent variables. Blood samples were collected before and after the training programme. The obtained data was statistically examined by analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). It was found that twelve weeks of training resulted in significant reduction of TC, TG, LDL, VLDL and increase in HDL levels. It was concluded that twelve weeks of aerobic dance and yoga training resulted in significant variation on selected biochemical variables.
