Purpose This study was directed to the impact of improving upper limb muscles balance on the vertical jump distance for volleyball players before and after 12 weeks of muscular strength training program.
Methods 12 volleyball players were selected purposively, experimental method by one group design with pre-and post-measurement included measuring the vertical jump distance muscular strength variables, the right and left muscles strength and the front and back muscles of the upper limb, Pectoralis major m. (Chest Flat & Incline and Flay), Scapular Depression (Vertical traction), Scapular Retraction (Low Row), Deltoids m. (Shoulder press & Rear Deltoid), Lower Back, Oblique m. (Torso), Triceps Abdominals m.(Spinal Flexion), (Spinal Extension)
The muscular balance training program also. Biceps m. (Arm Extension), (Arm Curl) adopted mixing between three main types of exercises throughout the duration of different preparation periods, represented in weights exercises on Single Station Machines, exercises using balance balls (stability balls), in addition to muscular balance exercises using body weight. Results We found statistical significant differences between the averages of the pre-and-postmeasurements in all previous variables of the right and left body muscles sides, and the variables of the front and back body muscles, and muscle power (vertical jump). The highest growth rate in strength of the left back Shoulder reached 139.53%. And the right back shoulder reached 138.5%. The highest growth rate in vertical jump reached 15.8% Conclusion Data suggest that Muscle balance training program reduced Muscular imbalance between the front and back muscles and between body side's muscles.
