The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of aerobic dance and yoga practices on selected fitness variables among middle aged women. Thirty middle aged women teachers aged between 35 and 45 years working at St. Joseph's G.H.S chengal were randomly selected as subjects and assigned to three equal groups of two experimental groups and one control group. Cardio respiratory fitness, flexibility and muscular endurance were selected as dependent variables. The subjects were divided in to three equal groups as aerobic dance group, yoga practice group and control group. The training frequency was 5 days a week for a period of twelve weeks. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to find out the significant differences of three groups with respect to each parameter and Scheffe's post hoc test was used to find out pair-wise comparisons between groups. It was found that twelve weeks of training resulted in significant improvement in cardio respiratory fitness, flexibility and muscular endurance. The level of confidence was fixed at 0.05 levels.
