A comparative study of selected physical fitness and physiological components among the players of Kabaddi and Kho-Kho of N.A.U., Navsari

Abstract

Health and physical fitness have a vital role in the life of men from time immemorial. The progress of the Nation lies in the hands of the people, who are healthy and physically fit. The purpose of the study was to compare the selected Physical Fitness and Physiological components among the players of Kabaddi and Kho-Kho of N.A.U., Navsari.

Subjects for the present study were male players of N.A.U., Navsari who had participated in inter-collegiate tournaments held during 2017–18. In the inter-collegiate Kabaddi & Kho-Kho tournaments 9 (nine) colleges had participated with 12 players each. Thus, total 108 players had participated in inter-collegiate Kabaddi and 108 players inter-collegiate Kho-Kho tournament. Further, 50 Kabaddi and 50 Kho-Kho players who participated in inter-collegiate tournament of NAU, Navsari in the year 2017–18 were selected for the study. So total 100 players were selected for the study.

The variables selected for Physical Fitness in the present study were Flexibility, Coordinative Ability, Explosive Strength, Cardiovascular Endurance and Speed. The variables selected for Physiological Components in the present study were Systolic Blood Pressure, Diastolic Blood Pressure and Vital Capacity.

This study revealed no significant difference among the players of Kabaddi and Kho-Kho of N.A.U., Navsari on Physical and Physiological components in Flexibility, Coordinative Ability, Systolic Blood Pressure and Diastolic Blood Pressure. Further, study revealed significant difference among the players of Kabaddi and Kho-Kho of N.A.U., Navsari on Physical and Physiological components in Explosive Strength, Cardiovascular Endurance, Speed and Vital Capacity.

This clearly shows that, Kabaddi and Kho-Kho players of the N.A.U., Navsari are possessing same Physical Fitness in Flexibility, Coordinative Ability and Physiological Fitness in Systolic Blood Pressure and Diastolic Blood Pressure. Whereas there was a difference in the Explosive Strength, Cardiovascular Endurance, Speed and Vital Capacity among the Kabaddi and Kho-Kho players of the N.A.U., Navsari.
