Fitness conciousness among indian youth

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to gauge the perception about more fitness conscious youth belonging to Chandigarh and Delhi. Self-made questionnaire was applied on 179 males and 155 females of various colleges and departments affiliated to Punjab University, Chandigarh and 181 males and 166 females of various colleges and departments affiliated to Delhi University, Delhi. The results revealed that 44.3% of Chandigarh youth and 37.2% of Delhi Youth (total 81.5%) voted for playing sports as the most likable and preferred mode to remain fit and males were found to be more fitness conscious than females. 35.2% of the respondents from total sample considered sports for fitness as waste of time. Parents discouraged their wards to join sports as they felt that it was an expensive preposition.
