Important Information Systems for Plant Genetic Resources in the World

One of the major challenges for food security in the next generation is the effective management of plant genetic resources worldwide. Thus, documentation of plantgenetic resources becomes very importantat the national, regional and global levels for effective conservation of rapidly disappearing genetic stocks for possible future use and also for immediate utilization of already conserved and evaluated/characterized germplasm in the on going crop improvement programmes. In the present article, an attempt has been made to compile the list of some of the most important web sites related to issues, databases, availability and information systems of plant genetic resources.
