Protease enzymes are considered one of the virulence factors for many types of microorganisms, including Aspergillus spp. The aim of current study was to evaluate proteases enzymes in clinical isolates of Aspergillus fumigatus.
Isolates of Aspergillus fumigatus were inoculated at bromocresol purple agar and then colonies that gave clear zones were further evaluated for protease enzyme production. Then purification of protease was done by using more than one step via different purification techniques.
We found that 39 isolates out of 41 isolates of Aspergillus fumigatus were able to produce protease enzyme, while 2(4.9%) isolates were unable to produce protease.
Aspergillus fumigatus species that were isolated from human are more efficient in protease production than Aspergillus that are isolated from other source.
