Medication Impact on Dental Prosthesis

Abstract

Dental implants are a type of artificial prosthesis, which is used, in treating patients with partial or complete edentulism. Implants have been is use in dentistry as a very reliable prosthesis since the past 30 years. Dental implants mainly attribute their success on the process of Osseointegration. Osseointegration includes in itself the processes of bone remodeling and healing. Systemic medication can interfere with these processes. The sole objective of the followingreview article is to acknowledge the association between systemic medications consumption and the subsequent effect it has on bone metabolism and their impact on dental implant failure.
