Abstract

Over the years several products have been proposed and testified as pulpotomy medicaments for primary teeth. Formocresol has been considered as gold standard for this procedure. Despite its clinical success, the use of formocresol has declined due to its apparent mutagenic and carcinogenic property. Controversies regarding the use of formocresol has urged the researchers to constantly pursuit for a promising alternative. Phytotherapy has been a recent trend. The aim of this paper is to analyse the existing literature on the various pulpotomy medicaments available for primary teeth and the evolution of natural products for the same.
