This study is a descriptive survey to identify the factors affecting the positive perception of marriage of unmarried men and women in South Korea.
Data survey was collected from 254 unmarried men and women in Korea and research tools used structured questionnaire that consisted of 7 general characteristics, 24 questions of types of love, 18 questions of sexual assertiveness, 24 questions of ambivalent sexism and 11 questions of the positive perception of marriage. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple stepwise regression analysis using SPSS 22.0 program.
The results showed that the variables affecting the marriage of Korean single men and women were complementary gender differentiation (B=.424), Eros (B=.152), Agape (B=.193), heterosexual hostility (B=-.173), and then the explanatory power of the three variables was 34.2%.
Through this study, we intend to provide basic data for the national policies for the increase of marriage and fertility rate in South Korea by exploring the mindset and value system related to marriage of single men and women in South Korea.
