Vitamin C Intake Improve the Anthropometric Measurements, Lipid profile and Atherogenic Indices in Obese and Non Obese Females

Abstract

Obesity and associated comorbidities are grave problem in India. Vitamin C intake seems beneficial to deal with obesity and associated complications.

To study effect of vitamin C intake on anthropometric measurements, lipid profile and atherogenic indices in obese and non obese females.

Total 41 females; (22 obese and 19 non obese), enrolled in this study who received 500 mg vitamin C, thrice a day for 3 months.

Significant decrease in all anthropometric measurements (Except for WHR in obese females), TG, TC, LDL-C and VLDL-C (Except for TC in non obese females), all atherogenic indices and significant increase in HDL-C was observed in all study participants.

Intake of 500 mg of vitamin C, thrice a day for 3 months is effective enough to improve anthropometric measurements, lipid profile and curb atherogenic indices in obese and non obese females.
