breastfeeding is an important issue for infant health, knowledge of new mothers has important role in their practice to breast fed their children. The objective of this study to assess the knowledge about breastfeeding issues among group of Iraqi female students in Wasit province. A total of 384 female students were enrolled in the study. Data collected using a pre-constructed data collection form (questionnaire) with 19 questions to assess the responses of students about the breast feeding issues. Total score then categorized to be adequate or inadequate. Data analysis and management were performed using statistical software and appropriate statistical tests applied accordingly. Findings revealed that 78.1% of the students had adequate knowledge. Inconclusion the overall knowledge of the students about the breastfeeding issues was adequate and not affected by their age or educational level of their parents
