Abstract

To correlate the nature of toothpaste used to the brushing habits of children in Chennai.

To assess the preference of children in relation to the type of toothpaste used by them.

A number of factors should be taken into account when designing toothpaste formulations for children at the different stages of their development. They all contribute to the formation of brushing habits of children. An ideal children's toothpaste formulation should maximise fluoride availability, along with the levels and types of surfactant that will decrease the interference with a child-friendly, pleasant brushing experience. The ultimate goal is to maximise the compliance by providing a more pleasurable brushing experience and oral health benefits.
